A bicycle bell has the metal outer bell (15) secured by a screw (6) fitted from the underside of the bell mounting (3). The screw hole has a recess to take the screw head and the threaded end of the screw is secured into a threaded sleeve fitted to the inside of the bell housing. The dimensions of the screw and fitting are such that the bell and screw can rotate when the screw is fully secured. This prevents removal of the bell by unscrewing the outer profile. The bell mounting and some of the mechanism can be plastic.
