A hot air balloon with propulsion control has an enclosed space filled with an overpressure of fresh air and hot exhaust gasses to provide the buoyancy and with a number of thrusters jets spaced around the balloon to propel the craft in any selected direction. The thrusters jets are linked by a common gas feed or the craft can be fitted with a number of powered thrusters whose exhaust gasses are used to inflate the balloon. Additional thrust can be obtained from gas jets fed by surplus exhaust gasses.
