The motor end caps (28,29) are moulded in a single piece from an insulating material, and are joined by a moulded lining (76) that lines the interior of the stator assembly before the windings are formed. The lining covers the entire inner surface of the stator and extends beyond the full length of the stator. The end caps engage with the ends of the lining.
