The process involves measuring maximum temperature obtained by the successive combustion reactions of diesel during the course of regeneration of a particulate filter (1), and raising the progression of temperature. Extent of clogging is determined as a function of the difference between maximum and reference temperatures, and between slopes of progression of temperature and reference temperature.
