The process involves supplying information of circumferential dilation of a pipeline by static monitoring of predefined number of singular or flow zones. Information of modes and frequencies of vibration of the pipeline is supplied by dynamic monitoring of the pipeline. The dilatation and vibration information are processed to obtain effective rigidity of the pipeline and a measured residual section of steel. An independent claim is also included for a system for monitoring the behavior of a pipeline containing pressurized fluid.
