Catalytic traps e.g. monolith, thermal state estimating process for motor vehicle, involves modeling catalytic trap by perfectly agitated reactor chain and calculating temperature of substrate and gas within and at exit of reactor
The process involves modeling a catalytic trap e.g. monolith by a chain of perfectly agitated reactors connected in series. Temperature of a substrate of the catalytic trap and temperature of the gas within and at exit of a reactor are calculated, from the temperature of the gas flowing upstream of the current reactor of the chain. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a device for estimating a thermal state of a catalytic trap with nitrogen oxide implanted in an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine; and (b) an application of a device for estimating a thermal state of a catalytic trap.
