PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of space light modulator, a space light modulator and a projector capable of performing optical addressing by scanning control light. PSOLUTION: The control method of a space light modulator 120 having a plurality of movable mirror elements comprises a control light supply process 110 of arraying at least respective (n+1) beams of light substantially linearly with intervals according to the weighting of 1 to n bits and supplying the same in order to perform n-bit gradation expression (n is a positive integer) of an image, a control light scanning process 116 of scanning the beam-like control light supplied in the control light supply process 110 into a transparent electrode disposed on every movable mirror element and a moving process of allowing the movable mirror element to generate a prescribed force by applying either one of control light among the scanned beams of control light to the transparent electrode in the control light scanning process 116 and moving the movable mirror element to the first reflection position in accordance with the image signal with the prescribed force.
