PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable resin composition which provide a liquid crystal display element which, when used as at least one of a liquid crystal display element sealing agent, a liquid crystal display element encapsulating agent and a liquid crystal display element vertical conduction material, releases no polymerization initiator into the liquid crystal material before curing, prevents a remaining polymerization initiator from being heated to outgas with the liquid crystal rearranged after curing, is excellent in low voltage drivability, high contrast and brightness, and has large resistance and high voltage retention; a liquid crystal display element sealing agent; a liquid crystal display element encapsulating agent; a liquid crystal display element vertical conduction material; and a liquid crystal display element.;SOLUTION: The curable resin composition comprises a radical polymerization initiator which has a radical polymerization initiating group, a hydrogen bonding functional group, and two or more reactive functional groups in the molecule, wherein the radical polymerization initiating group is irradiated with light and/or heat to dissociate it into two active radical species.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
