PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide recommended contents which reflect the tastes of the audience. PSOLUTION: A content selection supporting apparatus provides the audience with contents selected from a plurality of contents, on the basis of audience information and viewing history information obtained from the audience viewing the contents. The apparatus has a preference information generation means for generating preference information with respect to preset temporal information, on the basis of the audience information and the viewing history. The preference information generating means regenerates the preference information, on the basis of information on viewing subjects which is preset to the contents extracted, based on the preference information which are obtained from a contents provider for providing the contents, the audience information, and the viewing history information.
