PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing system capable of automatically photographing a video image that can effectively express a feature related to a shape of an object. PSOLUTION: The photographing system 1 is provided with a viewpoint determining apparatus 20 including: a voxel shape amount arithmetic section 21 that calculates a value denoting the intensity of a change in a normal vector at each of partial regions configuring the surface of the object on the basis of shape data expressing the shape of the surface of the object and uses the value for a shape information amount of each partial region; a viewpoint shape information arithmetic section 22 for calculating a shape information amount capable of being received at a viewpoint on the basis of a position of the viewpoint, a position of each partial region, and a shape information amount of each partial region with respect to the viewpoint; and a viewpoint selection section 23 for selecting a particular viewpoint on the basis of an arithmetic result of the viewpoint shape information arithmetic section 22.
