PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a connection state of a strain gage or the like with a plurality of prescribed terminals, from the side of a measurement instrument, and to determine the corresponding measurement mode.;SOLUTION: In the measurement instrument 1, respective switches SW1-SW9 are set so that a constant current I from a constant current source CC flows between A'-C', and the resistance value to be data X is obtained by the measurement of a voltage V. The constant current I also flows between D'-B', and the resistance value to be data Y is measured. Further, the constant current I also flows between B'-C', and the resistance value to be data Z is measured.
