PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a rotor which can materialize an eddy current type reduction gear capable of keeping a high braking torque or an eddy current type reduction gear capable of a long period of continuous operation, and an eddy current type reduction gear which is equipped with that rotor.;SOLUTION: The eddy current type reduction gear is equipped with a permanent magnet 4 which has a section where the density of a magnetic flux working on a rotor 2, where cooling fins 2b are made at the periphery of a drum 2a and the drum is fixed to a rotating shaft 1 via an arm 2c, becomes roughly equal within a region at the rotor surface in opposition. The periphery 2aa of the drum 2a is tapered so as to vary, in the direction of the rotating shaft 1, the thickness ta1 and ta2 of the drum 2a. The tip face 2ba in a height direction of the cooling fin 2b is tapered so as to vary, in the axial direction of the rotating shaft 1, the height h1 and h2 of each cooling fin 2b as occasion demands.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
