PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent failure by urging a user to use a printer periodically. SOLUTION: A client data base 34 stores information concerning to the user of an ink jet printer. A preventive processing section 32 fetches image data through a scanner 42 or fetches image data stored in a image data base 36. The image data uses all ink nozzles of an ink jet printer. The preventive processing section 32 makes an e-mail being transmitted to a user with reference to the client data base 34. The e-mail contains the image data. A communication control section 31 transmits the e-mail being received by the user. The user prints the received image data on a printer and inspects the printer for failure. These operations are performed periodically.
