COLD TOP VERTICAL CHAMBER PLASTIC SCRAP MELTER/EXTRUDER

Plastic scrap is fed into the top of a cylindrical cavity of a barrel, that has provision of a gravity or plunger operated piston. Electrical coils externally heat the bottom of the barrel. An extrusion die is installed at the bottom center of the cavity. With heat of the heaters, the plastic scrap at bottom of the barrel melts and molten plastic mass flows out of the extrusion die, and can be collected in form of noodles or pellets by breaking the noodles. Applying pressure by the piston on the plastic scrap on top of the barrel increases the rate of extrusion. As the piston connects to unmolten plastic on top of the molten plastic; it never contacts the molten mass. This avoids requirement of cleaning and wear and tear of the piston as in case of a screw type extruder. The top of the barrel reains cold always. The machine is most suited to compact small quantities of plastic scrap in homes and roadside remote locations. The output of the machine can be recycled to produce inferior variety of plastic products or can be dumped in environmentally safe manner. In the latter case, sand or similar heavier particles can be continuously added to scrap plastic to produce heavier than water plastic pellets which can sink in water and avoid polluting waterfronts and beaches even if the wastes are intentionally dumped or unintentionally washed in the waters.
