The mechanical controlled feed system is for hay and receives whole bales which it methodically disintegrates and feeds in consumable amounts to animal feed point. A rotatable unit (1) with fingers (2) is involved, rotatably located in a support device (5). The rotatable unit is adjustable in height via a vertical connector (14), so that the removal device can be matched to hay bales (9) of different heights. The shaft (3) of the rotatable unit is parallel to one of the sides of the hay bale. The rotatable unit rotates via the shaft in an anti-clockwise direction so that the fingers describe a circular path. This causes the fingers to penetrate the hay bale and separate a part of it. A further rotation of the rotation unit causes the separated part (12) to be further loosened by the fingers. The loosened hay is conducted away by a deposit unit (10).
