Recording product characteristics related to generic product properties, recording user characteristics related to generic target groups and recording a generic product characteristic/user characteristic index (PG-index) which indicates the extent to which the product characteristic (Pn) has a chance of influencing a person with the corresponding user characteristic (Gm) to copy a behavior associated with the ownership and/or use of a product with this product characteristic : (a) inputting a product score (PSn) for a specific product and specific target group per product characteristic, along with a value below a safe threshold (PSmaxn) relating to an estimation of the extent to which the product characteristic is suitable for the product, and also inputting for each product characteristic a user score (GSm) with a value relating to an estimation of the extent to which the user characteristic is suitable e for the target group; (b) generating a first evaluation figure (U1nm) by multiplying the product scores, user scores and PG-indexes; (c) generating a second evaluation figure (U2nm) by multiplying the maximum values of the product scores, user scores and PG-indexes; (d) calculating the total values (TU1n, TU2n) for the first and second evaluation figures for each product characteristic; and (e) detecting and/or displaying significant differences between the two evaluation figures for a product characteristic.
