The method is for the formation of a foundation (1) for a building and involves the excavation of a building base cavity (2), setting out the characteristic measurements of a building, in conjunction with which the foundation is installed. The foundation is formed by placing foundation components (3,4) in the base cavity and connecting them with each other. The characteristic measurements are set out in the base cavity by positioning of marking components (5), with which the foundation components are located. The foundation components and the marking components are joined to each other. The marking components are at least partly pin-shaped and the marking components have apertures for accommodation of at least the pin-shaped parts of the marking components. The aperture around the marking components are filled with a hardened material, particularly shrink-free mortar.
