Ogura sterility DNA sequence, which is a) consisting a DNA sequence delimited by the nucleotides numbered 958 and 2237 on Figure 1, or b) it exhibits at least 50 % homology with said sequence mentioned in a), and confers, when it is present in the mitochondrial or nuclear genome of a plant, cytoplasmic male sterility on said plant is described. Recombinant plant mitochondrial and nuclear genome, mitochondria and cytoplasm containing said mitochondrial genome are described too.
