The electrochemical synthesis of, e.g. L-cysteine hydrochlorate, involves conversion of L-cysteine in hydrochloric acid, for addition of solid L-cysteine and hydrochloric acid to the aqueous solution containing the product obtained. Electrolysis of the resulting solution permits separation of precipitate containing monohydrate of L-cysteine hydrochlorate.
