Buffer that can create a safety inspection zone for elevators

The lift system has a buffer (10) for the creating of at least one protective zone, a lift car (15) and a counterweight for the lift car, whereby the lift car and counterweight are movable along paths. The buffer has movable means (14) which can move into the path (Vk) of the lift car, and movable means (14.1) which can move into the path (Vg) of the counterweight in such a way that the lift car or the counterweight can be brought into mechanical contact with the movable means and the buffer can support the lift car or counterweight at a predetermined height above the floor (18) so that a protective zone is created below or above the lift car. An independent claim is included for a method for the creating of a protective zone in a lift system.
