The combustion chamber (1) of a solid fuel burning unit, especially for the burning of biomass, is formed through the alternating layering of heat resistant preformed part of two different materials. One layer is a guide plate (2) and the other an insulating plate (3). The guide plate in the installed state of the combustion chamber in a boiler lies adjacent to a boiler wall, and the insulating plate is set back or spaced away from the boiler wall. The guide plate is formed from a wear and erosion resistant material, and the insulating plate consists of a porous and condensation water absorbing material with low heat conductivity.
