The binder, for wire binding magazines and brochures and the like, has a stapling station (1) mounted on a slide to move with the collated sheets in their direction of travel (X) on the conveyor chain (3). At least one acceleration and/or braking unit (4), with a crank drive (7), is between the stapler slide and the ejection station (5).
