The present invention relates to a recombinant DNA which encodes a storable EcoP15I type III restriction endonuclease as well as large-scale purification of EcoP15I to near homogeneity and the use of said EcoP15I as tool for serial analysis of gene expression and/or the identification of corresponding genes.
