PURPOSE: Provided are an asphalt-concrete composition containing asphalt, aggregates, fillers and waste plastics, and the optimum amounts of waste plastics and asphalt required in the production of asphalt-concrete mixtures, based on Marshall mix design method and Superpave mix design method. CONSTITUTION: The asphalt-concrete mixtures contain asphalt, aggregates up to 13mm maximum size comprising coarse aggregates(crushed stone and gravel) and fine aggregates(natural sand), mineral fillers(limestone powder, cement, dust, fly ash, etc.) and waste plastics, cut into a proper size, such as low(high) density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. In the mixing of asphalt concrete and waste plastics based on standard sizes of mixed aggregates by Marshall mix design method, the amount of waste plastics is less than 3wt.% based on the total amount of mixtures. In the mixing of asphalt concrete and waste plastics based on mixed aggregates by Superpave mix design method, the amount of waste plastics and asphalt is less than 3wt.% and 5-6.5wt.%,, respectively, based on the total amount of mixtures.
