PURPOSE: To provide a method and apparatus for cleaning ion water purifier using reverse current cleaning, wherein effective reverse current cleaning is performed to maximize service life of electrode and reduce waste of water and reverse current cycle and reverse current time of the ion water purifier are controlled according to quality of water to effectively perform reverse current cleaning of the ion water purifier. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for cleaning ion water purifier using reverse current cleaning comprises a flux sensor(200) for detecting the volume of raw water that flows in the ion water purifier; an electrolysis circuit(10) for producing ionized water using the raw water and impressing DC voltage of a determined polarity to an electrode to conduct a reverse current cleaning operation; a reverse current circuit(20) for reversely turning the polarity of the voltage impressed to the electrode to conduct the reverse current cleaning operation; and a control part(100) for receiving a detected value from the flux sensor, controlling the electrolysis circuit and the reverse current circuit, and controlling reverse current cleaning of the ion water purifier according to intake volume and passing volume of ionized water.
