PURPOSE: A washing method of a washing machine is provided to improve washing efficiency and rinsing efficiency, and to reduce consumption of water and power by measuring the amount of detergent completely dissolved in washing water accurately and performing the washing pattern corresponding to the detergent amount. CONSTITUTION: The measured hardness of washing water is loaded in turning on the washing machine, and the water level and the washing pattern are predetermined(S1,S2). The detergent is dissolved in supplying water to the predetermined water level(S3), and the amount of detergent dissolved in washing water is measured(S4,S5). The water level and the washing pattern are reset according to the measured detergent amount, and the washing is performed in the predetermined water level(S6,S7). The amount of detergent dissolved in water is measured before finishing washing(S8). The rinsing pattern is set according to the detergent amount, and rinsing is performed according to the rinsing pattern after washing(S9,S10). The hardness of washing water is measured and stored before finishing rinsing, and dehydrating is performed(S11,S12).
