METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AUTOMATIC PLAY IN AN OPTICAL DISC APPARATUS, CONCERNED WITH AUTOMATICALLY DETECTING AND REPRODUCING A SPECIFIC TITLE AMONG SEVERAL TITLES RECORDED ON AN OPTICAL DISC

PURPOSE: An automatic play controlling method is provided to automatically search for a title, specified by a user, among plural titles recorded on an optical disc like a CD or a DVD. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. A microcomputer reads navigation data, recorded in a lead-in area of an optical disc, and stores the read navigation data by controlling a VDP(Video Disc Play) system(S10). In a case that an automatic play mode is preset in an apparatus(S11), an ID of an optical disc included in the navigation data is checked(S12) and at the same time, it is checked whether there exists the first regeneration title entry whose ID of an optical disc is same as that of an optical disc read from the navigation data(S13). In a case that there exists the first regeneration title entry(S14), a name or addresses of a title linked to the first regeneration title entry is checked and a series of automatic play control operations are performed(S15). In case that an automatic play mode is not set in an apparatus or there does not exist the first regeneration title entry whose ID of an optical disc is same as that of an optical disc read from the navigation data, a title selection menu is displayed(S16) and an arbitrary title is selected by a user(S17).
