PURPOSE: A timelapse VCR capable of controlling recording fields is provided to increase the recording field cycle of a camera located at an important position or to reduce the recording field cycle of a camera located at an unimportant position among video signals inputted from plural cameras, and then record the video images on a recording medium, thereby improving the recording efficiency of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A multiplexer/demultiplexer(14) receives video data from a plurality of cameras, changes video data field cycles of each camera channel in response to varied switch trigger signals(SW) of a microcomputer(20), and multiplexes the received data into a piece of data or extracts video data of a corresponding channel according to selected channel information. An Encoder(24) encodes the multiplexed video data, and then transmits the encoded data to a VCR deck unit(18). A decoder(22) decodes video data stored on a recording medium to restore the data, and then transmits the restored data to the demultiplexer(14). The VCR deck unit(18) records the encoded video data on the recording medium by synchronizing with the varied trigger signals, or reads the data from the recording medium to transmit the read data to the decoder(22). The microcomputer(20) receives field set information on the camera channels, and changes field cycles of video data of each camera.
