PERSONAL PORTABLE INFORMATION TERMINAL AND A USER INTERFACE METHOD USING THE SAME TERMINAL, CAPABLE OF HIGHLIGHTING DISPLAY INFORMATION ACCORDING TO INFORMATION INPUTTED VIA A ROTARY SWITCH

PURPOSE: A personal portable information terminal and a user interface method using the personal portable information terminal are provided to allow a user to conveniently access and check information displayed on an information terminal by using a rotary switch which is a user interface. CONSTITUTION: The terminal comprises a rotary switch(100), a hardware layer(300) and a software layer(500). The rotary switch(100) moves up or down via a guideline formed at a side of an information terminal, and highlights or screen-scrolls a specific area of displayed information. The hardware layer(300) includes a position sensor(310) and an input controller(320). The position sensor(310) senses a movement of the rotary switch(100) which moves along the guideline and generates corresponding position information if the rotary switch(100) moves. The input controller(310) generates a selection signal if a user operates the rotary switch(100). The software layer(500) includes a program execution module(510) and a display module(520). The program execution module(510) performs a control corresponding to the selection signal of the rotary switch(100) inputted via the input controller(310).
