MULTIMEDIA DATA PROCESSOR OF HOME MEDIA GATEWAY ENHANCING THIN CLIENT SCHEME, AND ITS METHOD, CAPABLE OF PROCESSING GENERAL INTERNET DATA BY THIN CLIENT SCHEME AND MULTIMEDIA DATA THROUGH EMBEDDED ASSISTANT MULTIMEDIA PROCESSOR

PURPOSE: A multimedia data processor of a home media gateway and its method are provided to lower a specification level of a main processor in comparison with a conventional internet TV set-top box, to enhance a multimedia data process quality in comparison with the internet TV set-top box, and to prevent a load from being concentrated on a thin client server. CONSTITUTION: The home media gateway(100) comprises a front panel and remote controller processing portion(110), a flash memory(120), a RAM(130), a processor(140), an assistant multimedia processor(150), a network interface(160) and a TV encoder(170). The processor(140), if it receives a content request signal via the front panel and remote controller processing portion(150), sends the content request signal to the network interface(160). The network interface(160) sends the content request signal to a thin client server(300) via a thin client protocol. Then, the thin client server(300) downloads the requested content from a web server over the internet, separates the downloaded content into general data and multimedia data, and sends information on the multimedia data to the home media gateway(100) via a special channel. The processor(140) receives the information on the multimedia data from the thin client server(300), and downloads the multimedia data from a media server(400) via the network interface(160). The assistant multimedia processor(150) receives the multimedia data, decodes the multimedia data, and sends the decoded multimedia data to the TV encoder(170). The TV encoder(170) encodes the multimedia data and displays the multimedia data on a TV(200).
