To provide a permeable reactive barrier for remediation of contaminated ground water, the barrier that is inexpensive and simply installed and has long life and far superior hexavalent chromium removal efficiency to the existing permeable reactive barriers by replacing iron used as a reaction media in existing permeable reactive barriers, and a method for remediation of contaminated ground water using the same. The permeable reactive barrier for remediation of contaminated ground water comprises a reaction media containing soil microbes selected from the group consisting of Bacillaceae family and Enterobacteriaceae family, wherein the soil microbes are included in the permeable reactive barrier for remediation of contaminated ground water in a concentration of 10 to 23 g per 1 L of contaminated ground water, wherein the reaction media is leaves to which the soil microbes are attached, or a LB culture medium in which the soil microbes are propagated, wherein the leaves are ginkgo leaves, wherein the soil microbes are Exiguobacterium acetylicum or Enterobacter asburiae, and wherein the permeable reactive barrier comprises 5 to 20 volume parts of a barrier structure material selected from the group consisting of sand, gravel, lime, activated carbon, zeolite, organic carbon, ion exchange resin and clay for 1 volume part of the reaction media.
