PURPOSE: A method is provided to set an insulation thickness of a cable in consideration of AC voltage withstand electric field characteristics, impulse voltage withstand electric field characteristics, and partial discharge start electric field characteristics of insulation sheet. CONSTITUTION: A method is characterized in that an insulation thickness of a cable with respect to AC voltage withstand electric field characteristics, impulse voltage withstand electric field characteristics, and partial discharge start electric field characteristics of insulation sheet, satisfies the following formula, V_AC X 1.2/52kV/mm, herein V_AC=V/root 3 X 1.1 x K1 X K2 X K3, wherein V(AC withstand voltage)=80kV, K1(degradation coefficient)=1.59, K2(temperature coefficient)=1.0, and K2(design margin)=1.1, VIMP(impulse design breakdown voltage)=BILxK3, BIL(impulse withstand voltage)=150kV, K3(design margin)=1.1, V=target breakdown voltage, R1=inner radius of former, and R2= outer radius of former including insulation layer.
