Method for obtaining a stock exchange quotation over the phone in which a subscriber dials a service server and states a security name for which a price is required. The chosen name is transmitted using voice over Internet (VoIP) to the server. The server determines the current security price, converts it to spoken format and transmits it back to the subscriber in VoIP format. The price is then spoken back to the subscriber. Typically before stating a desired security price a user would input personal access details.
