Confocal scan microscopy system for use with multicolor lighting illuminates two overlapping areas of object with different colors and has dichroic beam combiner blending light from two lasers
The light source (1) has two lasers (5,7) of different wavelengths at right-angles to each other. There is a vari-optical system in front of one of the lasers. A dichroic beam combiner (9) produces a two-color beam (3) which passes through an aperture (11). The beam is reflected from a first beam splitter (13) and also from a moving mirror (17) in the scanner (15). The light passes through lenses (19,21) to an objective lens (23). Two overlapping patches of light of different wavelength (39,41) are formed on the object (25). Reflected light passes back through the optical system to the beam splitter which allows some of the light (27) to pass through an aperture (29) to a photodetector (31,33).
