The valve drive has a moveable armature with an armature plate (1) and a first electromagnet (9) on the side of the plate. A second electromagnet is arranged on the other side of the plate. When current is applied to the first electromagnet, a magnetic field is generated which draws the armature in the direction of a first end position. When current is applied to the second electromagnet a magnetic field is generated which draws the armature in the opposite direction to a second end position. An eddy current circuit (5-7) is arranged on the armature plate. When the armature is drawn by the electric field and eddy current is generated whose magnetic field slows down the armature before it reaches its end position.
