The control process involves defining a production section with those stations (12,14,16) in the printing process whose preparation and/or finishing processes affect the resulting print quality, providing a master data set for each station in the production section and comparing the actual data of one station with the associated master data set. Calibrated devices of the corresponding station are used to determine or define the device parameters for a station leading to a master data set.
