Device for measuring the distance to and spatial coordinates of an object (4), or their change over time. The device has a light source, projection optics (2) and a recording device for recording an image of the object surface that is then analyzed in an evaluation unit. The light source can be spatially structured to generate a spatially structured light pattern, which is then imaged on the object surface using the projection optics. An independent claim is made for a method for measuring the distance to and spatial coordinates of an object, or their change over time.
