The filter centrifuge has a filter device (4) with a filter membrane or filter medium for separating solid particles suspended in a liquid and a weighing device for determining the mass of the solid particles by difference weighing of the filter membrane or medium before and after the separation.. The filter device is arranged in or on a device (2) for rotating it with a sensor (6) for determining the imbalance of the rotor and an evaluation system for determining mass changes of the filter device using the sensor signals. An independent claim is also included for the following a method of filtration and residue mass measurement.
