The knee airbags fitted to the vehicle are arranged so that they engage the impact surface before the inner knee, as a result of which the region facing the outer knee provides greater resistance to impact. This achieves a kinematic pattern which causes the head of the vehicle occupants to be turned away from the A-pillar.
