A nanocomposite blend (I) comprises (wt.%): (A) polyamide (55-95); (B) polypropylene(4-40); (C) nanodispersed layer silicate (1-9); (D) up to 10 wt.% carboxylated polyolefin, preferably a copolymer of ethylene with unsaturated carboxylic acids and; (E) optionally conventional stabilizers and fillers. An independent claim is included for a process for the production of the blend (I) by compounding components (A) to (D) and optionally (E) at above the melt temperature of the polymers in an extruder or kneader.
