Method for determining a pH value using a reference diaphragm measurement system and a pH measurement electrode arrangement in a medium with an unknown pH, whose value is to be measured. According to the method, potential differences between rigid leads connected to at least a reference diaphragm and the pH measurement electrodes are measured and used to determine the solution pH. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for implementing the method and a method for operating such a device.
