The feed conveyor (1) has 2 transfer devices (2,3) for packaged items, each moved via a along a feed path (5) and a return path (6) below the feed path, via respective tension bands (4) provided with independent drives (7,8). Each transfer device is mounted on a carriage provided with a linear guide allowing movement of the transfer device between an upper and a lower position and vice versa at the end of each path.
