The press for sheet metal has a pair of movable jaws to grip and shape the metal. Each jaw has a sheet gripping surface on one side supported by a base and defining a separation plane with it. The jaws (3,4) have a peripheral radial lip (11) and a bridging ring (8) to the respective bases (7) surrounded by a casing (9) with a closure edge (10). The latter defines a slide guide (12) with the bridging ring to guide the jaws with a radial play.
