The lateral panels (2) can be telescopically extended or reduced in height. They are attached to a carrying frame (4) joined to a guiding device (3) assembled of two hook-shaped elements with a bridge between them attached in a right angle to the frame of the bed (1). The outer ends of the bridge are equipped with a toothed wheel to be guided along a curved serrated path located at the inner surface of each of the hook-shaped elements in order to facilitate the panels (2) to be moved under the bed frame (1) in a space saving way.
