The railing unit for the temporary protection of a building scaffold comprises at least one support strut (4) which is vertically orientated in the state fitted to the scaffold. Means are provided for the attachment of the support strut to a vertical upright (1) of the scaffold. At least one rail is connected to the support strut and in the state fitted to the scaffold extends in the region of the end side of the scaffold. The means of attachment can fix the support strut to the vertical upright in a clamping fashion.
