PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for drawing a glass preform capable of preventing the scaling up of the whole apparatus even in scaling up of a glass preform, having approximately the same workability of the glass preform before the scaling up of the glass preform. ;SOLUTION: In this apparatus for drawing a glass preform, equipped with a furnace for heating and softening a glass preform, a feeding mechanism for supplying the glass preform and a taking-off mechanism, a cylindrical glass preform housing container is separably constituted so as to house the glass preform before introduction to the furnace and the separated elements are mutually connected by a hinge and openable and closable.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
