The cone (10) has a tapered portion (11) with an outer surface (11a) extending from a wet surface (31a) of a crown (3) of a runner (1) and converging towards a central axis, by moving away from the wet surface, when the cone is mounted on the runner. A tapered portion (13) has an outer surface (13a) shifted along the axis and diverged with respect to the axis by moving away from the portion (11) and a cylindrical portion (12). Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method of assembling a runner with cone (b) a hydraulic machine equipped with a runner that has a cone.
