PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil for use in wire ropes which is capable of preventing the reduction in the lubrication function and is capable of preventing the solidification into a massive form.;SOLUTION: The lubricating oil for use in wire ropes which is impregnated between the core cable 9 and strands 10 of wire ropes 6, 7 and have a mass fraction of polycyclic aromatics of less than 1%, is characterized in that this lubricating oil has a mass fraction of sulfur of less than 0.5% and contains an antioxidant for preventing the oxidation of the lubricating oil in a mass fraction of 0.05-1.5%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
