PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document archiving system and a digital copy machine in which document archiving can be performed with extremely high quick responsiveness for a user. PSOLUTION: The document archiving system includes: a digital copy machine 106 for scanning a copy document; a printer 112 for printing a document; a print server 104 for controlling a long-term archiving type storage medium; and a network 100 interconnecting the digital copy machine 106, the printer 112 and the server. The digital copy machine 106 relays image data representing the copy document to the print server 104 to store the image data on the long-term archiving type storage medium, and the printer 112 relays image data representing a printed document to the print server 104 to store the image data on the long-term archiving type storage medium 114.
