PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optical functional film improving coating surface-like failure, an optical functional film and a protection film for a polarizing plate and to further provide a polarizing plate applied with a reflection prevention by a suitable means and an image display device. PSOLUTION: In the method for producing the optical functional film, a web-like support comprising a cellulose acylate film conveyed at 5 to 200 m/min is coated with at least one layer of the optical functional layer having film thickness of 200 nm or less after cured. In the method for producing the optical functional film, at least one layer of the coating layer of the optical functional film is supported on a backup roll, a land of a distal end lip of a slot die is made approaching to a surface of the continuously traveling web and it is coated with a coating liquid delivered from a slot of the distal end lip. The optical functional film produced by the production method, the polarizing plate applied with the reaction prevention film produced by the production method and the image display device are provided.
